How the Calculation Works
This calculator uses MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values from exercise science research. Each weapon and action combination has a different energy demand based on movement intensity and physical exertion.
Lightsaber Duels require explosive movements, rapid direction changes, and sustained arm engagement. The MET value accounts for the constant blade work and footwork.
Blaster Combat involves periodic shooting bursts with cover movement between positions. Lower steady-state MET with periodic spikes during firing sequences.
Force Powers like telekinesis are estimated based on the physical exertion of moving objects with mind power. MET values are lower than physical combat but higher than walking.
Armor weight increases total energy expenditure by approximately 10% per 20 pounds of equipment. This accounts for the extra mass moved during combat maneuvers.
